Open Source Utilities JAVA 1.5+ and rsync There are two pieces of software that we use very heavily or plan to use very heavily in the near term.
BC Team Feedback The Baseline Configuration (BC) Team is pleased to inform you that your request to add JAVA 1.5+ to BC Policy FY06-19 (Common Set of Open Source Utilities) has been approved. An updated version of the expanded list of common HPCMP open source utilities will be released on the BC Web site within 30-45 days. As for your other request to add rsync to BC Policy FY06-19, the BC Team has decided not to support rsync as a common open source utility across the six participating sites. While most of the six participating centers have rsync installed on all their allocated machines, the team did not wish to promote the availability of rsync at the six sites due to past abuses of rsync by some users. We want to take this opportunity to thank you for your valued input, and we look forward to additional comments and suggestions you may have for the BC Team in the very near future. |
