ezVIZ visualization tool
ezViz is a non-interactive batch-mode Visualization tool that runs directly on HPC and Utility Server (US) systems, making it ideal for batch and queue usage. It uses software-rendering based on proven, free, open-source technologies. ezViz allows users to process simulation data before, during, and after job execution.
Each participating center shall create a user-accessible directory on each allocated HPC system and on each US system for the purpose of installing the ezViz visualization package. An environment variable named $DAAC_HOME will point to the top-level directory of the ezViz installation. All executable files, library files, source code, and other configuration files for ezViz will be located in subdirectories under the top-level directory. The environment variable and access to the installed visualization programs will be automatically set for the user upon login, either through additions to the user's default path or through a user-loadable module.
A member of the ezViz development team will install and maintain all software under the $DAAC_HOME directory, unless a center's technical staff desires to do so. In the latter case, the ezViz development team will provide the center's staff with the necessary installation files and instructions. The visualization programs that comprise the ezViz package shall be supported in accordance with Baseline Configuration Policy FY05-01 – Multiple Version Software. FY05-01 recommends that centers maintain the current production version, the previous production version, and a beta version when one becomes available. The ezViz team shall inform CCAC of changes in the default version or in the release of a new beta version of ezViz. CCAC will then inform the Centers of the changes in a timely manner while the Centers will appropriately disseminate the information to their users.
A system is considered compliant when: 1) ezViz is installed and tested and 2) the environment variable $DAAC_HOME is set for the user and pointing to the top-level ezViz directory.
