AFRL - Utility Server - System Maintenance
The AFRL DSRC Utility Server will be unavailable 0800-1000 EDT on Thursday, 23 May, 2013 due to a Panasas File System upgrade on the Center-Wide File System (CWFS).
The system is scheduled to remain up, but will become unavailable during a portion of the CWFS Maintenance.

AFRL - Spirit - System Maintenance
The AFRL DSRC SGI ICE X (SPIRIT) system will be taken down to perform preventive maintenance.
Between 0800 hours EDT Thursday, 23 May, 2013 and 1800 hours EDT Friday, 24 May, 2013, the entire SPIRIT system will be unavailable.
We recommend you review the following important user notes and take any necessary action to minimize impact to your project schedules.
Important User Notes:

- Thursday, 16 May, 2013: Beginning at 0800 hours EDT, queues on SPIRIT start draining. No new jobs will start on SPIRIT that will not finish by the time of the outage.
- Friday, 24 May, 2013: Beginning at 1800 hours EDT, SPIRIT is back in production. New jobs may be submitted.
- Advance Reservation Service (ARS) - Unavailable: Reservations cannot be made for this period between 0800 hours EDT Thursday, 23 May, 2013 and 1800 hours EDT Friday, 24 May, 2013.
- Users' files will be given 1 extra day of file lifetime.
The AFRL DSRC STRONGLY suggests that users move data from workspace to the Mass Storage Archival System (MSAS) PRIOR to this preventive maintenance period. Data on workspace is volatile and is not automatically backed up.
The Kerberos Key Distribution Center (KDC) and User Authentication Service (UAS) servers will remain available.

ERDC - Garnet - System Maintenance
The ERDC DSRC Cray XE6 (Garnet) will be consolidated with the ORS Cray XE6 (Chugach) and the AFRL Cray XE6 (Raptor) into one large (+150K compute core) system. This work begins on May 28, 2013.
Garnet users: Your access to Garnet will end on May 27, at midnight, Central Time. Your /home ($HOME) will be preserved and will be available to you on the new large system, but your files on /work ($WORKDIR) will not be preserved. You are responsible for saving all of your necessary /work files.
The new large system will also be called Garnet. The significant changes are a much larger system and OS upgrade, more login nodes, more disk space, and a PBS update. The expected return to production date is July 18.

NAVY - Archive - System Maintenance
Navy DSRC Preventive Maintenance (PM) for the Archive Server, NEWTON, is scheduled for Wednesday, 29 May 2013, from 0900 CT to 1400 CT.
This maintenance period is to perform LUN analysis on external storage.
Users are reminded that the PBS batch queues will remain enabled on the Computational Servers HAISE and KILRAIN during this PM. Users should ensure input data needed for PBS jobs exists on the Computational Servers prior to PM start and that output data from PBS jobs is not prematurely deleted before archival to NEWTON after this PM completes.

ERDC - Diamond - System Maintenance
The ERDC DSRC HPC Diamond will be unavailable to users beginning at 0600 hours Central Time, Friday, May 31, 2013. The purpose of the interruption is for cooling infrastructure modification necessary for the Cray XE6 consolidation, plus routine maintenance on Diamond. Diamond is expected to return to service on Saturday, June 1, at 0800 hours.
Diamond users must complete all file transfer before 0600 hours, and no batch jobs will be allowed to start that would extend past the start of this STO.
